The NP Modernization Act's independent-practice authority for NPs with 3,600+ hours SUNSETS July 1, 2026 unless the legislature extends it. The extension bill (S2360) was still in committee as of June 11, 2026. If the sunset passes unaddressed, all NPs revert to written collaborative agreements.

New York has not enacted the APRN Compact (which is not yet operational anywhere). The Nurse Licensure Compact covers RN and LPN/VN licenses only, so multi-state APRN practice still means a separate APRN credential in each state. Your national certification (AANPCB, ANCC, NBCRNA, or AMCB) and any DEA registration renew on their own cycles, with their own CE math.
