To get your first RN license in Oklahoma, you graduate from an approved nursing program, apply for licensure by examination through the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, complete the required background check, and pass the NCLEX-RN. Yes. Oklahoma requires a fingerprint-based criminal background check to get an initial RN license. Oklahoma law (59 O.S. § 567.18.B.) requires each initial licensure-by-examination applicant to undergo a fingerprint-based criminal history records search of OSBI and FBI databases, completed no more than 90 days before the application is submitted.
