Endorsement timeline, fees & requirements · General framework
Moving your nursing license to Ohio means applying by endorsement (unless a compact multistate license already covers you). The Ohio Board of Nursing sets the timeline, fees, and steps; here is the framework and the exact questions to ask them.
Ohio is a compact state, so the first question is whether you need an endorsement at all: if your primary state of residence stays in another compact state and you hold a multistate license, that license usually already lets you practice in Ohio. You apply for a Ohio license by endorsement when you make Ohio your primary residence, or when you hold only a single-state license. We have not yet verified Ohio's exact processing time, fees, and permit rules against a board source, so ask the Ohio Board of Nursing directly before you spend anything or accept a start date.
Start at the source: Ohio Board of Nursing or the online licensing portal. Not sure if you even need to endorse? The compact eligibility quiz sorts compact privilege from a required license in two minutes.
