Nevada requires RNs and LPNs to complete 30 hours of continuing education per 2-year renewal cycle, and APRNs 45 hours (an additional 15 beyond the base 30). This includes 4 mandatory hours of cultural competency and DEI training each cycle, plus a one-time 4-hour bioterrorism course. Nevada nursing licenses expire on the nurse's birthday every two years with no grace period. Nevada is not a Nurse Licensure Compact state, so nurses must hold a Nevada-specific license to practice in the state.

A Nevada RN completes 30 contact hours of CE every two years (including 4 hours of cultural competency, counted within the 30) and attests at renewal in the Nevada Nurse Portal; no certificates are uploaded at renewal. Board CE page (RN 30 hrs/renewal): “The 4 hours of continuing education is part of the mandatory 30 hours already required by law (NRS 632.343).” Proof is shown only if audited: “Should you be selected for a random audit, you will need to show proof of completion of all your continuing education for the most recent renewal period.” The Board runs random audits the first of each month, notifying selected nurses via the Nevada Nurse Portal and email the month after renewal; keep certificates at least four years.
