Wyoming offers flexible continuing competency options for RN and LPN license renewal. Rather than mandating a set number of CE hours, nurses choose ONE of five pathways completed in the past 2 years: 400 hours worked as a nurse, 40 hours of approved CE, passing the NCLEX, a refresher course, or a nursing degree beyond basic preparation. APRNs without current national certification complete 60 CE hours plus 400 practice hours. All licenses expire on December 31 of even-numbered years, with the renewal window opening in October. Wyoming is a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) member state.

| APRN Practice Hours | 0 | Required | APRNFNPCRNACNMPMHNP | APRNs without current national certification must complete at least 400 practice hours as an APRN within the past 2 years. Nationally certified APRNs meet competency through certification. |
| Controlled Substances Prescribing (APRN) | 3 | Required | APRNFNPCRNACNMPMHNP | 3 hours of CE on responsible prescribing of controlled substances required for APRNs with prescriptive authority (included in the 60-hour total). |
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs): Wyoming CNA renewal is handled by the state nurse-aide registry, not the Board of Nursing, and follows a work-hours / in-service model rather than the CE above. Check your state nurse-aide registry for CNA requirements.
